The name will live on long after its construction and become a subtle feature of the local community.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In Victoria there are 12 principles for choosing the name, the \u201c<em><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Swanston\u201d <\/span><\/em><span data-contrast=\"auto\">part, and 54 options for the type of road, including cul-de-sacs and pedestrian-only roads.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>Locations matter<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Names must not duplicate existing roads with 5 kilometres for metro areas, 15 kilometres in regional<\/span> urban and 30 kilometres for rural or remote locations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There might be plenty of High Streets and Station Streets, but you won\u2019t find them too close together.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>What you won\u2019t see in new road names<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Cardinal directions are not allowed.
