2022 Ashbury Community Fund grant applications now open!
\nIn what\u2019s sure to be good news for Armstrong Creek residents, this month sees the launch of the 2022 Ashbury Community Fund.
\nAn annual initiative of the Dennis Family Corporation, the Ashbury Community Fund awards financial grants to local not-for-profit organisations in the Armstrong Creek neighbourhood. Eligible not-for-profit groups operating in the 3216, 3217 and 3228 postcode areas can apply for grants of $1,500, which will be assessed by an independent judging panel.
\nThe Dennis Family Corporation has successfully operated Community Funds across its residential estates both in Victoria and South East Queensland since 2002 and has distributed more than $950,000 in grants providing invaluable financial support to local not-for-profit groups.
\nLast year saw 18 happy community and not-for-profit groups from Armstrong Creek and surrounding areas receive grants totalling $30,000, including Geelong Mums, 3216 Connect, Uniting Vic.Tas, Connewarre CFA and the Grovedale Fire Brigade, as well as various local sporting clubs and organisations.
\nAnnouncing the launch of this year\u2019s Ashbury Community Fund, Dennis Family Group\u2019s Marketing Manager, Melissa Munro, said the concept was introduced within the family-owned business as a practical way of giving back to the communities it creates.
\n\u201cA vibrant healthy community takes more than bricks and mortar. It requires a range of services delivered by community groups and associations. But while the work done by both individuals and organisations \u2013 and the contributions they make to local communities, is invaluable, it often goes unrecognised,\u201d she commented.
\n\u201cThe Dennis Family Corporation has a long history of seeking to help others less fortunate and supports a number of not-for-profit organisations. In keeping with this philosophy of giving, the annual Community Fund concept was introduced in 2002 as a practical way of giving back to the communities we create.
\n\u201cEvery year we allocate funding to assist a wide range of special activities and community programs, helping people of all ages. Over the years, we\u2019ve provided grants to hundreds of different organisations to help make their projects possible.
\n\u201cThis will be the fifth year the Ashbury Community Fund is up and running and it\u2019s a fantastic opportunity for us to be able to provide financial support for so many worthy organisations in and around the local area where our Ashbury development is located.\u201d
\nOne organisation that was successful in securing a grant in 2021 was the not-for-profit Grovedale Toy Library. President Erin Krusic-Golub was thrilled to accept a cheque for $1,500, which was put towards purchasing new toys.
\n\u201cAs the Toy Library is run completely by member volunteers and funded solely by memberships and fundraising, one of the biggest challenges we have is ensuring that we have enough toys to meet the growing demand of the local community. The grant enabled us to replace many of our older and most popular toys with new ones, and we can\u2019t thank the Dennis Family Corporation enough for helping us make that possible,\u201d she said.
